It is considered the weakest passport in Latin America for traveling, (along with the Haitian passport). In February 2016, the Dominican Republic citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 54 countries and territories, ranking the ordinary Dominican Republic passport 83rd in the world according to the Visa Restrictions Index.
